Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) & Sage 50

In April 2016 the way contractors and subcontractors deal with Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) legislation is changing. From April 2016 expect the following changes:

  • Online only filing of CIS Returns
  • Re-submission of returns for corrections in previous months
  • New online appeal process
  • The submission of nil CIS Returns will not be mandatory (over 50% of returns are nil)
  • Eligibility of businesses and individuals joining the scheme

And there’s more changes coming in 2017 too…

  • All businesses and individuals in the scheme need to be compliant
  • Compulsory online verification of subcontractors
  • You’ll need to run different reports
  • You’ll need to complete your CIS returns in the HMRC gateway
