Error Message: “The backup has been unsuccessful. Failed to download backup file”

Have you ever received this error message when backing up your Sage 50 Accounts data? “The
Backup has been unsuccessful. Failed to download backup file.”

This may happen when you do not have the necessary permissions to save the backup to the
location you have chosen.

How can you resolve this?

There are a few solutions: –

• The first thing to try would be to right click the desktop icon for Sage on your computer and
run the program as an administrator if you aren’t already doing this.
• Use another log in that has the right permissions to backup to the preferred location.
• Check that the location that you are trying to backup to has sufficient disk space.
• You could also backup to another location that you do have permissions for.

I often get asked for help with error messages in my Sage Lady Academy.
