There is a phased rollout of Sage 50 Accounts version 30. This will be a 64-bit version of Sage 50 Accounts. Transitioning to a 64-bit application will be straightforward for most users. When you install v30, you will be offered the 64-bit version by default. If you still need to use a 32-bit version, there will be one available.
What are the key features of Sage Accounts v30?
Here are some of the key feature updates:
- Bank Feeds Rules Enhancements
- 64-bit version of Sage 50 Accounts
- AI Report Finder
- New ‘Invoice Payments Fees’ tax code setting for Stripe reverse charge
- Separate Bank defaults for tax code and department
- Google Analytics consent
- Consolidation of some reports e.g. instead of 7 different customer day books reports, there is now one, with more criteria instead
What does 64-bit mean?
Traditionally, Sage 50 Accounts has been a 32-bit (or x86) application. A 64-bit (x64) computer can handle more data than several 32-bit computers. General performance is faster, more modern and gives access to improved security measures.
Running a native 64-bit application also allows Sage 50 Accounts to utilise more available memory resources and will therefore perform better, experience fewer memory-related issues, and enhance compatibility with other 64-bit programs. It is also compatible with 64-bit instalments of Microsoft Office.

What are the risks?
As Sage are transitioning to a 64-bit default version, they will no longer offer automatic updates for 32-bit installations of Sage 50 Accounts. Updates will still be available but must be installed manually.
Will I need to do anything differently?
You will not need to do anything different. When you install Sage 50 Accounts v30 64-bit, the installation process is the same as in previous versions. When you first log in to your company data, it will be converted to the new version automatically.
The rest of the Sage 50 Accounts program works and behaves just like it did before, with no major changes to the interface in this update.
